A visit to wife

Hot 5588 views. 2014-7-23 22:53 | yesterday, persuaded, journey, service, annual

The day before yesterday I went to the Undertaker's in Changchun with son, where wife's cinerary casket has been deposited, for the fifth anniversary of wife's death is approaching. It had long been conceived to make the visit on a cool day before the end of son's holiday. Finding that day would be rainy, rather agreeable weather for a journey after suffering from a prolonged heat wave, so I persuaded son to fulfill our fifth annual service. It had begun to drizzle before we got on the bus. The rain poured down as we transferred at the East Bridge to No 117 bus for our destination. The depository is not far from the new-built gate of the Funeral Home. We walked zigzag through a large room well filled with casket shelves and then entered the inner one that stores wife's casket. As I whispered our happiness before her casket to relieve her soul, I never felt any sadness as before.

God bless you and your son! Let the past gone, a new world with bright future is ahead of you!

Sorry to hear that. But seems you have recovered from the deep grief. There are so many things in our lives, which is out of our control. We have no other choice but to face it. May your son and you have good luck.

Seems there is no indication that you miss your demised wife. Your words could mean that you are better off without your wife. Perhaps, that is not your meaning and what you meant could be to console her that all is well and wished she was with you. Organizing a remembrance visit to the columbarium indicates your unfaltered affection towards her. A marriage relationship, even if she has departed, is about giving, not receiving.

As a matter of fact, I felt guilty when I finished this diary and posted, somehow. I admit that longing for my deceased wife is a conspicuous lack in the passage. But this does not mean I don't miss her at all. In my brief writing I just intended to record the visit. How can I dare to forget my beloved wife?It is her who has borne me a bright son. Had it not been for wife, we couldn't have built our bungalow and purchased our apartment. As for your conclusion that I can live better without wife, I can tell you I had been totally misunderstood. When wife was alive, we had been living in poverty. After her death, our living standard improved little by little. If she lived healthily today, our life would undoubtedly be better. Anyhow, I heartily thank you for your conscientious and critical analyses that would be helpful to perfecting my writing.

Oh, glad to know that you are indeed a sentimental and affectionate person and such people are normally happy and contented. I am also in this category. You have worked hard to raise your son and tend to your mother and I am sure your departed wife would be relieved and grateful and may she rest in peace.
