1）Early this morning I received an unwelcome call from one of my former colleagues who invited me to a banquet held in a few days for celebrating his daughter's enrollment in Shandong University.

2）Mother boiled the extra green beans with some salt till half-cooked. Then she cooled them off on some round straw covers. I brought them over to freeze in the refrigerator for future use.

3）Mother-in-law came over to see mother with her elder sister. Soon after lunch they left for home about two kilometers away when the sky became menacing with a possible rain approaching. Later mother bitterly regretted that we hadn’t called a taxi to get them home because shortly after their departure a downpour set in.

4）Yesterday all teachers were summoned to the Central School attending an urgent meeting in which the ban on any private classes was reiterated.
