Silent reading, as a fascinating scene, has almost vanished from the view of the public. Good books are ignored to stay on the shelves with a thick layer of dust covering. They have failed to compete with the internet and TV for attracting the attention of people. Even the intellectuals tend to prefer to watch TV or the videos on computer rather than read the books from which the shows are adapted. I think the shows of entertainment are only for those who can't read. As for an educated person, he or she had better read the original works instead of their adaptations or translations if possible. The plays or dramas can only present the outlines of the originals with most of authors' ideas lost.
