Hot 3|
According to the weather forecast, the temperature would drop to minus three degrees centigrade last night, the earliest freezing date in recent years. I didn’t get in the turnips hurriedly as past. On the early morning I could see the thin ice formed in a puddle on the road. The leaves of our turnips had been darkened and hardened at the icy temperature. But it got warmer and warmer as the sunny day advanced. Towards noon the turnips’ leaves returned to normal. It’s a great relief to know that the minimum temperature will be above zero tonight. So our turnips and cabbages can still grow for some time if the weather doesn’t go to extremes.
