Fearing our radishes would suffer the coming freezing cold, mother and I got in our red radishes this evening in a hurry. We are satisfied with the yield this year, the record high in all these years. The first we’ve eaten weighed two kilograms. Mother owed the good harvest to the excellent seeds. She added that her frequent watering also did them good. The radishes look lovely, fresh and tasty. I suggested to eat the biggest ones first which are inclined to go spongy if stored too long. Mother said they are to be buried in the yard as past to preserve the moisture within before the piercing cold sets in.
