Recently I began to yearn for the stone rollers in my native village because it costs too much here to grind the corn and the sorghum into flour mechanically. We used to grind grain with the stone rollers when we lived there. They could both save money and offer a good chance of exercise. Moreover, this pastoral scene was fascinating when recalled today. The country people never took any exercise intentionally as the townspeople. Their daily work was the best form of exercise. They lived in poverty but always hopefully. They also envied the townspeople whom they called people living outside. But they wouldn’t realize the spiritual boredom of these wealthy outside people.
