Criteria of selecting a partner

Apartments, cars, income, looks, height, positions, occupations, abilities etc are taken as the necessities of an ideal bridegroom nowadays. But the other day a brave girl declared on the matchmaking program that she would only require a virtuous husband disregarding other conditions mentioned above. I highly approved of her standards of choice at first. In the meantime I cast doubts on how long she could insist on that romantic idea. The cruel reality would break her dream into pieces sooner or later. Without a material guarantee, how can a new family be formed and survive? Anyhow she seemed to me an immature person. Only life can teach her a lesson perhaps.

Marriage means two people in one soul willing to spend the rest of their lives together under any condition. If there is a precondition like Apartments, Cars, etc, then that would make the vow meaningless. It would only be a financial contract, not a marriage. I myself would not marry anyone who has such preconditions.
Yes, reality, social requirements and social constraints would require the couple to be financially capable, but it does not have to be too materialistic. Just the necessary things should be sufficient. Unfortunately, people continue to stick to these demands, and as such, there are so many single and unmarried people around.
