This morning as I entered our front porch, I found two nailed pranks had got loose and suspended from the ceiling. I wondered what had detached them at the end. Later mother told me at dawn she had heard something crashing outside in the yard. I thought it must have been connected with the suspended wood pieces. At noon when I went to the shed next to the porch fetching some fuels for preparing for lunch, the sudden and loud rustling of the dry corn leaves inside did give me quite a start. Obviously it was the job of something alive larger than a mouse. Because the doors and windows of the shed were all shut at night, the newly settled animal, maybe a weasel, chose to enter and leave through the openings in the shabby ceiling of the porch.
