Disastrous rain in the south

Hot 2533 views. 2016-4-22 16:43

Recently I learnt from TV many areas in the south have been suffering acutely from incessant rain. The land has been saturated by the rain. And sunlight could hardly be seen for so long. Some rivers, lakes and reservoirs rose to the warning water levels. Besides extensive fields, numerous urban streets have been submerged under water. Landsides can happen at any time in the mountain areas struck. Compared with that of the same period in the region in the past, the rainfall this year is excessive. I can not help sympathizing with those southerners whose life and agricultural production have greatly been affected by the flood. The south is not an ideal place to live in for its scorching heat and aggressive insects in summer and moisture all year round are unbearable for northerners. Its enchanting scenery can be appreciated on TV or by making a short visit. That’s why I firmly persuaded son not to apply for admission to any college in the south after knowing the results of his college entrance examination last year.

The climate and weather in the South of China is not as bad as reported. It is a question of personal preferences and suitability. In the South, we have four distinct seasons. Spring is wonderful with flowers and plants blooming everywhere plus plenty of colorful exotic fruits to enjoy. Summer is hot but there are the beaches and sea to cool off. Then the rain comes to refresh and cleans up all the pollution and smog. Winter is cold and dry like the North. It is true that the humidity is hard to tolerate for some but that is don't last too long. Oh, yes those horrific insects are always around.

When people interfere with nature by altering huge rivers and gorges, they are altering nature's arrangements at the same time, therefore, we see rain in the South and drought in the North. Water had to be diverted from South to North.

However, for those intending to further their education, the north is more suitable because there are less distractions in the North and has the atmosphere for study. The Northern students seems better in Science, Medical, Engineering and other professional courses, the Southern students are better in other subjects like finance, business, Hotels, Tourism and the food industry.

Nevertheless, every region has good educational institutions and a lot depends on the choice and aptitude of the students. Being near to home is also an important consideration. Choice of college is an important decision which affects a person's long term interests, therefore, it must be considered very carefully.

Some places are essily to be infuenced by weather chaning, such as huge fainful and flood or drought. The definition of southern places probably is different from what I assume.

Here is just fine, though it has rain these days. I do feel ok. Everyone has his or her choice to decide where they should or might go for work and study only if it is suitable and ideal to be there.
