Last night I watched on TV the live women volleyball match between the first–rate teams of China and Japanese. It aimed to strengthen the ties between the two sides and further to improve each other’s skills. Through the contest both shortcomings and advantages of each side were revealed to the public and to the players as well. This could help the two sides to be familiar with each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Then they can adopt proper tactics to defeat each other by maximizing favorable factors and minimizing unfavorable ones. Although our team won the match, it was just by a narrow margin. We must acknowledge that the Japanese team is a tough rival of the Chinese. Just like in the final contest between Chinese and Japanese in the World Women’s Volleyball Championship last year, it was unpredictable who would win before the last minute. Moreover, when our team was under threatening and fierce attacks, our coach had to request to suspend the contest or substitute players. This showed there is much room for our players to improve. And it’s unfair to the dominating rival at the time.
