Scent of a woman

Yesterday as I approached the old elm in a high wind near my home, a few
bundles of deserted clothes by the roadside attracted my attention. I got down
from my bike and went over to have a look. I saw all the cloth-wrappers were
worn-out, but the clothing inside was tidy and good including the garments and
underwear of a young lady, her child and husband. One of the working men nearby
guessed that the family must have just moved into a newly-bought apartment. The
woman’s dresses, skirts, knickers, bras, etc were numerous and fashionable with
different styles. Most of them were almost new and rarely worn. Above all, they
gave off a pleasant smell. From these I can easily conclude that this woman was
young, beautiful, slim, clean and kept up with the times. In the meantime, she
represented the young generation tending to ignore the traditional Chinese
virtues adhered to by the old generation. With people getting prosperous day after
day, we can see widespread waste of resources frequently. Thrift seems out of
date.
