When I play my first PC game I was 12 years old. My parents bought a PC when I was 11. The first PC game I played was about the era of three kingdoms. I was reading Romance of the Three Kingdoms at that time, so the game interested me very much. The game was pretty simple though, you have dozens of icons which represent chess to fight the enemy chess. Each chess has its own HP and MP, depends on what character it represents. For example, Guan Yu has more HP than his brother Liu Bei.

Playing PC games in my childhood was always happy, because everything on the monitor screen was new to me. Even though I couldn't win a battle in the first place, I still addicted to the game. That's what kids like to do, exploring new things. When I grew older, I started to all kinds of games(RPG, SLG, FPS, TPS, MMORPG...). One of my favorite game was Heroes IV. It's the first time I played western PC game. There were dragons, fairies, unicorns and all kinds of monsters and devils. The beautiful pictures and fantastic music attracted me and made me immerse in the explore of the world in the game. Since then, I realized that what I truly loved was not the game itself but the great graphics it showed to me.

As we all know, computer graphics in video games has been getting better and better in the last 10 years. In order to enjoy 3D PC games, I bought my first graphic card when I was a sophomore. I played The Elder Scroll IV with that card in my computer. During the time exploring the world in that game, I walked from mountain to mountain, village to village, went across rivers, stood on the highest city wall, just wanted to see the most beautiful view in the game. I admit that PC games make me a typical nerd, but I never regret because I can find safety, beauty, adventure which I may never find in the real world.

Since people in the real world always upset me. Why don't I just spend my time in the area I like? Parents fight to each other, classmates mock each other, teachers only give us homework and never care about what we like to do in the future. I'm tired about the real world, the real people around me, it's time for me to do something I really have passion at.

Computer Graphics is my first choice and I am studying it. I want to know how to make scenes like movies in a video game. I want to know the relationship between geometry and computer graphics. I want to get deeper into this field and leave the trouble in the real world.

The problems I want to solve recently are why do we need to buy such expensive graphics card to run advanced 3D video games like Assassin Creed 3, Battle Field 3, Need For Speed 17? Can't CPU do this job alone? Which parts in video games changes when the new generation GPUs come out? How to use GPU to make more beautiful and more realistic graphics?

The purpose to develop powerful GPU is to simulate a world which looks like real world around ourselves and let players experience another life, enjoy the fun the games provide and forget the pain in real life. That's what I like to do: throw away what upsets you, put yourself into a world which can only makes you happy.
