A Tour to the Great Wall

704 views. 2011-3-15 16:02 |

When I was 18, I got a chance to go to the Badaling Great Wall. Located in the Yanqing County, the Badaling Great Wall is the most representative section of the wall and with its difficult terrain, it has been of vital importance to military history. The time when you reach the highest point, the very splendor of the mountain scenery will be displayed in front of you. Furthermore, lots of celebrities have already been there. But today, I just want to share my feelings with you.

It’s a quite complex kind of feeling. I was not only satisfactory, exciting and happy but also a light sad. As far as I’m concerned, whoever reach the highest of a high mountain will feel satisfactory. Because it means that we do really have conquered something that we think impossible at first. And as the proverb goes: he who does not reach the Great Wall is not a good man. The Great Wall not only gives us a reason to be self-admired, must also a firm proof from others in terms of history. Now, the proverb has already been a national spirit of hard struggle and plain living.

However, there are a lot of reasons for me to be sad for the loss of time for example. To begin with, I think, our Chinese really have forgotten many of Chinese histories and cultures. You may argue that, oh, I see many educated people have acquired a good knowledge of those things. But they should not only acquired by those people. Chinese histories and cultures are the precious assets of all the Chinese people. However, today, such kind of education is still in great demand. Last but not the least, broad masses of people to improve their own quality. What we should do is to protect our historic sites rather than pollute them. It’s not only the duty for children, but our adults should also set a good example. Won’t we feel shameful when we see that it’s the children or even the foreigners?
