3. Meeting in out room

Hot 2619 views. 2013-12-9 20:56 |Individual Classification:College Life

Always lazy at weekends! Haven't updated my blog for three days!

The next day, My parents and I went to the university to get on the school bus took us to another campus at suburb where I would spent my freshman year. The campus is located outside the fifth circle. The view outside the windows is changing from the ponderousness to the wild.  I was a little disappointed for that I had to spent a whole year in this place where just like a deserted village. It is pretty difficult for us to go to downtown. We have to take a crowded bus to the subway station and take a more crowded train. Every time it took us more than 1 hour to get to the place downtown. But we still travel a lot  at weekends during my first year in spite of the inconvenience. Ironically, when we move to the main campus between the second circle and the third circle, we seldom go out but choose to play the computer games like DOTA.
I saw the senior students there shouting loudly to welcome us new-comers as soon as the school bus drove into the campus. They are very warmhearted and help my parents and I to carry my luggage to my room. My room is on the eighth  floor and there is only one elevator in our unit. Therefore, we sometimes choose to climb the stairs. Good way to keep fit! There are 3 bunk beds per room, which means I was gonna spend my first year with other 5 buddies. I was on the upper berth.
I was the second to arrive our room. There is a buddy from Beijing who arrived a little early arranging his berth. Let me call him Z in the following passage. Z is a tall and slim boy, though not as tall as  me, with white skins. He seems to give people the feeling of being delicate but he is not delicate at all in fact. So at first we all called him ' little white '. He speaks with a strong Beijing accent and is not eager to talk a lot.
We talked a little and found that we had talked on QQ in the summer. His nickname was 'From cloudy to sunny' which refers to his love story at that time as we know afterwards.
Soon, another boy came in, with a yellow hair and a guitar on him. He is from Liaoning province. Let me refer him as L. L is a naughty boy and he likes playing computer games in a kind of crazy way. He said his dream is to write his own computer games which I doubt a lot based on his performance in the last three years and it is another thing to talk. I play guitar since high school, so when I saw the guitar I thought'OK, I will have a good companion now and  maybe we could form a band or something. But with time passing, I found that he can hardly finish a single song smoothly. Disappointed! To him ,the guitar is just like a symbol or an expectation. He feels cool to own a guitar and with the fantasy to play it coolly but gets lazy when practicing it.
When we three are talking, another buddy came in. I could judge him from his accent that he is from Anhui and I was right. Let me address him as Z. Z's berth was under mine, so we technically share the bed. I think he is my best friend in the room during the first two year but we talked less since he had a girlfriend with great assistance from me. What a pity! He may be classified as the less-talk man, but when getting familiar with us, he interacts with us a lot. He has a mild temper so sometimes we like to do tricks on him and ridicule friendly on him. It is a lot of fun.
Another buddy from Jilin province came later, let me address him as W. W is extremely slim and when he stands strait, he is just like a zombie. So we call him 'Zombie King' as reference to a hero in DOTA. W's family seems not to be very rich so he would find a lot of excuses to refuse the invitation of a room dinner in the restaurants around as we often execute the AA policy. He has a extremely strong self-esteem which may link to his family finance.
The last buddy is from Shandong province and he finished his high school at Shanghai where is easier to get admitted comparing to Shandong.
He is pretty narrow-minded and has a very bad temper and at the same time he is narcissistic so much that he could use the mirror in the bath room for more than 15 minutes before we went out together. He likes to talk but always either off the point or just crappy things which people do not like to hear but he just like it. I am still wondering today ,how could all these bad characteristics be injected into one body... Joke! but he is truly unwelcomed.
At that time , all of our six were sitting together ,talking. And I knew that  I was taling to the five buddies who I barely know about, but we would definitely be familiar with each other and share our following four years together! Strange feelings!

Some people can be very nasty and difficult to get along with. But if we come to know that one's character is formed or conditioned by the environment he lives in. I believe they're not born that way. In this light I think we should treat  them nicely, letting them little by little change or at least realize how to be a good citizen.

Your blog quite interestingly describe the intricacies of dormitory life. You seems to be good in evaluating people according to their visible characteristics. You probably correctly assessed them. It is certainly easier to accommodate and live with roommates when you understand them. However, there are always some people who are difficult to get along with and are arrogant, so you may have a hard time dealing with them. You seem to be gifted in dealing with people, so make the best use of those advantages.

You are absolutely right and I think it significantly has something to do with their growth environment or in another word, the family education. To some extent, they are unfortunate.

Thank you! Though some people are somewhat annoying, I treat them well. Every one wants to have excellent roommates, but sometimes it is not that case. You can still get lots of fun with them if dealing with them well.
