Why I have little to talk with my father on the phone?

Today I called my father again and I found we had little to say.Everytime I tried to find a topic but was in vain.I could also feel that he's trying his best to come up with a good topic to have a chat with me,but we always said little then fell into silence.Oh,disgusting silence!
I remember when I stayed at home,we had plenty to talk with and I liked to hold his hand,how nice!But I never rang up him,I always phoned my mother .What's worse, I found it a few days ago!What should I do?

- In a family , they love and concern each other, so everything can be talk about. Maybe at least one of you do not like talking.

- Elders feel authoritative so it is hard for your father to talk to you. It is your duty to find things to talk with your father. The best way is to tell him about your success and problems, your happiness and a little about your unhappiness. You also have to listen to the complaints of your father and comfort him. You will have to do most of the talking and your father do the listening, he would be happy after the conversation even if he has little to say. It is the duty of a good daughter to report to your father. You seem to be a nice daughter.
