These days I'm watching a film ,named 冷山.Why these days?Because I have watched it for many times!It's the first movie which I think is well worth a second watching.I saw so many movies before,never found one better than it.I cannot find a proper word or expression to describe my feeling or the film or my comments on it.I was totally moved,impressed.Some scenes I even watched 4 or 5 times!It's so touching and impressive.

  The two main roles are Ada and Inman. Their love I think is purier than 山楂树之恋and more thrilling than 泰坦尼克号.They barelly knew each other,just a few moments,like Ada said.Here are some dialogues between them when they met again after quite years.

  It was winter,Ada was shooting hens,when she caught one,a man leapt out at her.She was horrified and shouted:"go back where you came from."Inman didn't.He recognised Ada."Ada"He whispered.He stepped towards her instead of withdrawing or raising hands.He went closer and closer.But Ada shouted again:"Go back!"After marching a few steps,Ada was almost recognised him.Inman turned back and went forward."Inman!"Ada cried and ran to him.Their eyes met for a split second.They went close to each other.There were tears flowing down on Ada's face.They met again!

  There's a letter Ada wrote to Inman.She wrote"Dear Inman,since you've left,time has been measured out in bitter chapters...And no words from you.Are you alive?I pray to God you are.I'm still waiting as I promised I would.My last thread of courage now is to put my faith in you,and to believe I will see you again.So now,I say to you,as plain as I can,if you are fighting ,stop fighting;if you are marching,stop marching!Come back to me.Come back to me is my request."So beautiful words,like poem.And it's because of this letter,Inman decided to withdraw from war.Then he began his fleeing to Cold mountain as a deserter,with severe wound in his chest.

  At the next morning after their reunion,Inman was shot dead on that ground covered with snow,white snow.Ada made a dash for him,holding him in arms,started to weep and kiss him.Inman was dying,murmured :"I came back."Then after she said:"I love you!"Inman was gone.There was so much blood,so red,in the white snow,it's so red that dazzled!Ada lay beside Inman.They lay together on the white snow.I can't see clearly the facial expression on Ada's face.Maybe calm,peaceful.She was white too,as white as snow,I should say.The actress's skin was really white!

  After years Ada said"What we have lost will never be returned to us.The land will not heal.Too much blood.The heart will not heal.All we can do is make peace with hte past.And try to learn from it.There are days now when I manage not to think of you,when the needs of the farm call with more urgency than my heart.This time of year there's so much life everywhere.I find you in all of it.And if you were still walking home to me,if you could see us now this Easter day at Black Cove,you would every step of your journey was worth it.I looked once more down Sally's well,and this time there was nothing there to haunt me.Just clouds,clouds,and then...sun."

  She's lucky that she had a daughter with Inman.Their daughter,the only thing that Inman left to her.There's a scene when Ada looked down Sally's well,Maybe looking down well with a mirror to see future is a superstition.But it worked.It brought hope to Ada.She saw Inman was coming back!She then wrote to Inman"Yesterday,I saw you walking back to me,or thought I did.I found myself crouching over Sally's well.Like a madwoman staring into it's secrets.Was it you I saw walking home to me,or was it your ghost?After so long,I know I must learn to live on my own.And accept you will not return.And yet I cannot,I cannot."

  At that time,Ada was so poor that she could hardly survive.But she didn't give up.She didn't want to live her house,or more precisely,to leave Cold Mountain.She wrote letters to Inman and the address was Cold Mountain.She's afraid Inman couldn't find her.Because she once said"I will be waiting for you."Everytime people asked how she's going.She always answered"I manage very well."Actually she was going to starve.She could barely get through that winter.She even reckoned to use her father's watch to change some pork!She knew little about darning,cooking,growing,feeding or milking."This fence is about the first thing that I've ever done that might produce an actual result."As she said.She's even afraid of rooster!If it were not for Ruby,she would probablly have died of hunger.When Ruby shouting outside her house"the cow wants milking"she was writing.She then employed her.Ruby told her how to do housework,how to run a farm.She's no more weak,she's growing strong,growing to know how to live a life on her own.

  There is a dialogue between Ada and her father,which I think is classic.

  Actually I can still find Inman loved Ada deeply from some scenes,though Inman seldom showed his emotion in this film.One was when he told an old woman"How could a name,not even a real name break your heart?It's her,she's the place I'm heading.And I hardly know her."The other was when he stayed at an attractive young widow's shelter,they slept on one bed at night since it's raining outside.He just hugged the young widow and said :"I love someone.I love someone very much."

  Why I said Inman seldom showed his love?Once Ada asked him to clear a field,he said nothing,but the next day,he was clearing.Ada was surprised and said to Sally:"Dear,and then she had nothing to say."Sally answered:"He was happy!""Really?"Ada wondered.Hearing Ada's playing piano,Inman stopped his work,took of his hat,and looked her quietly.He did not even said good morning to Ada.Next day,he went to the church,and looked at Ada from the window.Again,looked quietly,said nothing.Everytime Inman got wounded in the battlefield,he thought of Ada,the good memory that they stayed together filled his mind,every detail.
