my experience

458 views. 2011-11-16 10:01 |Individual Classification:Catherine|

All things are difficult before they are easy .I drew such a conclusion from getting on with my son .

He is a bit weak at some subjects . His teacher advised him to do some extra exercises .He didn’t say no but he didn’t obey at first .But I forced him .At the first time , he got angry with me . But he had to do it . And now he has got into the habit of doing it .He accepted the teacher’s advice . There are also some other similar circumstances .

Yesterday I asked him not to stay up to read novles until the weekend since he needed to sleep a lot . I have found some students were sleepy in class because of reading comic books , noves or playing games secretly in their own bedrooms. What’s more, I think novels are sometimes too attractive .It isn’t helpful to  get my son to fall asleep quickly . He must have enough energy and sleep to focus attention in class next day.

In order to make him close to me , I offered him favourite food .In the morning , I woke him up with wonderful music instead of my voice. Every night ,I will check his homework to see if he has corrected his mistakes by himself he has made before .I won’t check if his homework of today is right or wrong . But I am strict in his handwriting .It’s useless and boring to ask if he has reviewed what he has learnt today .  But I will prepare one question to ask him to check if he has revised well enough . Yesterday , I asked the questions about his mistakes which he had made and which had been explained by his teacher . I found he didn’t really understand the questions . He felt I helped him a lot ,although he didn’t express thanks to me .I felt very happy .

i think you're a mother. hehe. being a mother is not easy, really. because it is not just to give food and clothes but help him/her grow in many ways. one thing i reminded myself of when my son was a kid was that i should not force him to do this or that. we didn't get him to attend summer classes or any private tutoring until one day he himself felt like learning to play erhu.

Educating children is really a big lesson. Although I am not experienced like you in this respect, my suggestion is that try to communicate with kids in a equal wasy rather than forcing them.

Yes , communication is necessary and I should learn to get used to using it . Otherwise , my son will not talk with me about problems .Thanks a lot .
