Love you ,Dad!

Mid-autumn Festival is also my father's birthday . What does my dear father really need ? Does he need a sweater ? Does he have fresh fruit every day? Does he feel well ? What can I do for him ? Maybe a small chat with him is good enough to make him happy . I am always busy (maybe because of laziness ) .As a result , I seldom go home to see my elderly father . After Mum's passing by , it's obvious that Dad feels lonely . He lives in the hometown alone . I don't know who he can talk to about his unhappiness and joy ? He used to be a soldier and it is not easy for him to be gentle or easy-going .We never dare say he is wrong when he has lost temper . We always make him realize his mistake when he is in good moods . He likes to tell me the news he watched and his politics opinions. . For example ,how does he like Chairman Mao ,Deng Xiaoping and others ? Who has died in the village? Whose son or daughter has got married ? How "hateful" his selfish neighbour is !Or ask if teachers have had salary promoted again!(He is always proud that his daughter is a teacher). He especially likes meeting his old comrades-in-arms no matter how far they live .I just need to listen to him and make him relaxed .Sometimes I just need to hug him gently. I feel guilty for leaving my elderly dad living alone without anyone listening to him . But he won't leave his hometown to stay with us . I should often go home and accompany him ." When will you have the holiday ? Whey will you come home? Why not come and fetch some pears to eat ?"Dad called yesterday .

- Your article although not a sad one but can bring tears to our eyes. Your wrote in a straightforward and honest way. My heart was touched when I read to the part 'I feel guilty for leaving my elderly dad living alone''.
My father was exceptionally good to me and cared everything about me. When I was young, I once talked rough to my father and even scolded him because he became drunk from wine and caused trouble. My father fell into silence that his most loved son talked rough to him. Clearly my father was hurt and I felt guilty ever since that day. There is no way that I can repair this situation now that my father has gone. The only thing I can do is wish him well wherever he is and hope that in my next life, he will be my father again.
Most fathers are stern, stiff and strict and it is not easy to show them our filial love and care. However, they are soft in heart and when we show them our concern, they would treasure it and feel contented and happy. It is not much fun talking to dad, but do it while you can, otherwise you would regret it like I did. Dads might keep repeating the same story, but just smile and said you know that. Talk something which he is most concerned about. Show him that you care about him and keep regular contact. Since he is proud that you are a teacher, so it is easy to keep a cordial relationship. Try to go home and accompany him and if you can't then call him up for a talk during the holidays. Have a good time.
