Why any potential English writer should know some HTML and CSS

If you are eager to become an English writer , then mastering some HTML and CSS , the codes that govern the web environment in which you write, is helpful . Just mention two reasons why you should learn them:
1) It is a skill within the reach of most Arts students;
2) Knowing some HTML and CSS means you understand your environment better; and , you not only can work as a web writer, but also as a web editor.

- I used software to learn about HTML and I can manage to create detailed websites for my own company and others. It is useful indeed.

- Thank you for your suggestion. I do need a new website this year. So ... Maybe I should learn to do it. is it hard to do it?

- Admire your ability to learn and did the design yourself. Maybe it is time for me to take up the gauntlet and face the challenge of computer which has subjugated me.

Will it take long for somebody like me -- a computer dummie-- to learn to do the design? A website named "Free Tutoril HTMl" offers free instructions. I think I will check it out.

- You are being humble. You have interest in it so you should be able to learn it quickly. You can learn it on your computer in the evenings. It would take you about 1 month to learn the basics and in few months you would have enough knowledge to create impressive websites.

After you have enough knowledge, you can go here to find part-time jobs working at home, which can earn you Rmb 100 per hour if you are good at it. To earn that you have to be really good at it. Reasonable English is required and it seems you have that. Good luck.

- Sorry, I don't agree with you. In my opinion, as a writer, you should focus on your article especially the content, your web style and form are not important.
besides, more and more softwares bring convenience in writing and publishing article, so you can easily write and create, unnecessary to know why, just know how to use.
I am a programmer, mastering HTML, CSS and other many web skills, but I still can't write nice articles.

- To put it simpler so that readers who know no web technology can grasp it : HTML is the stuff makes things look tidy, CSS the stuff makes things look pretty, and stuff called JavaScript makes things look active , or more precisely speaking, interactive .

In fact, you can build very pretty, even a little animated, website yourself by only using HTML and CSS.
Okay, return to your argument : Good English writing skill is enough , no HTML plus CSS needed. I think , unless your English writing ability is very good , by first look, after having read few paragraphies of your works, people recognize you as a good English writer, otherwise, it is very difficult for us to outperform other native writers on the internet. I think some extra skills are needed to complement , and CSS and HTML is the choice..
