i have never think about how important listening is, until i read a story when i was a junior in university. the plot of it is pretty simple but the thought which the auther want to express is deep. the main meaning about that story is listening is powerful medicine. i enjoyed the whole process when i was reading it, not only made me rethink the importance of listening, also made me feel something i have never realized when i was a listener. i appreciate it.
each story of us is different. some are detailed; others are vague. some have a beginning, middle, and end. others wander without a clear conclusion. some are true, others not. yet all those things do not really matter. what matters to the storyteller is that their story is heard--without interruption, assumption, or judgment.
listening to someone's story costs less than expensive diagnostic testing but is key to healing and diagnosis.
just stop, sit down and pay great attention to listen...you are going to a great listener.
