Recently, it's so hard to get a taxi by waving your hand. Do you feel the same way?
In the past, I walked out of my community and easily got a taxi because either a lot of taxis waited outside of community or quite an amount of available taxis with green lights passed by. Nowadays, where are the taxis?
It turned out a lot of passengers and taxi drivers were using cellphone app to call a cab. Why people are so active to use new ways? Then I figured out by talking to taxi driver and found they all used taxi call software to find their potential passengers nearby and also get rebate or so-called additional pay, similar to tips, through each transaction of such call. Wow, nice promotion and all the taxi drivers are now so diligent in doing business.
However, for person like me still using traditional way, it's harder to get a taxi than before.
Another thing to notice, taxi drivers are so multi task and can drive and pick up orders. Safety might be concerns of the passengers. The ways of getting taxi are evolving. People's daily life is changing from day to day. Can we catch up all the new ways? How about those people who don't know how to call a cab via mobile app? How about our seniors? How about sick people? Can they?
Clearly, I haven't yet and still prefer if can get a taxi by simply waving my hand. Another point I'd like to make, no matter what way to get a taxi, I wish the service manner of taxi driver can truly improve. No matter how far the passenger requests to, same professional service manner shall be applied. A long way to go in China.
