How to Deal with My Computer

Now I really believe: buying a new computer depends on one's luck to a great extent. Yesterday, a friend, who bought his new computer last month, told us that his computer got a problem--blue screen of death every few days. It reminds me of my poor computer, lying in the corner for nearly half a year. I haven't got any idea how to deal with it yet...
On May day, 2008, Ruis led me to the computer city and bought the first computer in my life. The brand is HP. At that time HP left a very good impression with me. And Ruis's friend brought a HP computer from America earlier. Having used it, I determined to buy a HP computer. I never gave a thought to the brand such as Lenovo, Acer, Asus, Toshiba. In brief, HP occupied my brain. It took nearly 6300 yuan, and I got a yoga mat, a mouse, a U Disk and a nice green computer backpacker. Compared to Computer DIY, I think it is more convenient to have a laptop, although Computer DIY is much cheaper and functions well. I had great faith in HP. All of the good impression run away when the computer crashed all of a sudden in June last year. It got a blurred screen when a friend was surfing the internet on my computer, and exactly before the bad news I was planning to go out. I asked Ruis what's the matter with my computer. Hope I could fix it as soon as possible. He was a computer freak, but he told me surely this time it was not a small issue anymore. Something must be wrong with the graphics'card. His words came as a bolt from the blue. I never pay any attention to the "HP Xiankamen" until I googled on the internet and found I was just a victim of "HP Xiankamen". My heart was breaking since the computer maintainer asked 1200 yuan to fix the computer. Once it was fixed, it would also crash someday. I did not know whether to fix it or not. Is it worthwhile to fix it at such a high cost and it would be out of use anytime...Since then I hated HP and told the tragedy to my friends, suggesting them never to buy HP! How could them ignore these victims' loss? Why did they design the computer in such a way? (The graphics card is connected with the mainboard. When the graphics card goes wrong, the mainboard should be fixed at the same time)
Anyway, I paid nearly 250 yuan to fix the computer and it got through the summer, crashed again in winter. Now it is still lying there quietly, waiting for my rescue.
To buy a new laptop or to fix it? Let me think...

- Don't bother trying to fix your HP computer. Most people think HP or IBM are more reliable but it is not true. It is no use to fix it wasting money and time. Just buy a DIY assembled computer for about 3000. The good thing about DIY is that any part have problem, just replace that part only cheaply. Normally a DIY computer can run for 5 years without much problem. The speed of the computer is no problem. Of course if you want to use it for powerful computer games then you pay more. Computers come out with more power every few months, but you do not have to follow and catch up. You do not need that.
My computer is a ASUS Pentium 4 DIY assembled computer bought for 3200 Yuan in 2007. It never gave me any major problem. It is very reliable. I have TV card, fax, and other things in it but still no problem.
About your friends new computer, looks like it is a memory problem. Check if she has been cheated on the memory card or if it is damaged. If memory is not the problem then may be she installed some program which is defective or taking away all her memory.

- The "HP" is the worst laptop in the world. Don't try to fix it if it will cost your too much money! DIY needs some skills about hardware,you may pay attention to Lenovo,Asus etc.

I will never take HP into consideration. Some consumers spend more than 10,000 yuan buying a HP computer, but their computer also have the same problem with my computer. They are not reconciled to put it away, fix it, crash, again and again. At last they spend much money fixing the defective computer. I tried once, it's enough, it is likely I will buy a new one. Indeed, a DIY assembled computer is attractive in price and quality. I ruled out the assembled computer when I bought computer, for at that time I thought it was hard to take the computer home when I graduate. Maybe next time I will buy a DIY assembled computer as you suggest.
You really have a good bargain. Some of my friends are not so lucky as you. The assembled computer often have much problem. Seems luck plays an important role. Haha..

- If you don't often use computer outside.I suggest you buy DIY.Although laptop do having convenience for carry it everywhere,DIY having advantage than laptop.Such as price is cheaper,a good view to see the film with bigger LCD and it is not easy to be stolen.My computer a DIY which is servering for me over 5 years without any hardware problem.I will buy DIY again if my computer explode.Reading your blogs is also helpful for me to improve my english.So, don't let your computer lying quietly.

I do enjoy watching movie with bigger LCD. Indeed laptop are convenient but it also has its disadvantages, just as you said, easier to be stolen and the feeling of watching a film is not as good as DIY assembled computer. Everytime I thought of the expensive HP computer couldnot be used again, I had to accept the bad luck.
