A Trip to Mountain Village and Barbeque

Since this blog is about having fun, it will be written with the order of fun instead of order of logic.

Yesterday, that is May 28th, members of Office Department of Student Union of Foreign Language School joint together for group outing. As previously stated in the travel plan, the destination is a village located in a mountain valley, which is called Dui Jiu Yu. The activities listed include a barbeque for dinner, a stay in the village inn and a mountain-tour on the morning afterwards.

At 4:00 pm, all the members gathered at the school gate with the packages containing all the necessities for the trip. (Btw, to meet the enthusiastic requirements of other members, I took my GF along with me.) They we set out for a walk to the bus station, where we will get on the No.55 Bus, which is said to be one of the heavily stuffed bus at town. After 30 minutes of waiting, we finally squeezed ourselves into the bus, exactly the same way in which the canned sardines are packed in. Even though there are sometimes big up-and-downs, we are not in the least worry of losing balance because we are pushed fiercely from all sides.

It took the bus about 40 minutes to arrive at the terminal. When we get off, I was stunned at the sight: green mountains can be seen from all over with little streams flowing through their feet. The scenery is more natural and comfortable than that extremely beautiful, it's exactly the place you want when you intend to relax and have fun with your friends.

The building of the village inn is very unique with its use of pillars to prop up the whole platform over a small body of water. Dining area and barbeque area are set on the platform. A small bridge, also supported by pillars, links the platform and the residential building, which is constructed with the mountain on its back.

We were almost starved to death after the tough trip; therefore, we started the preparation for barbeque immediately we were settled down. The girls are in charge of cleaning and processing the food while boys have the obligation the get the barbeque grill done.

The vegetables as well as corns, beef, lamb, pork, chicken, and sausages are cleaned in the sink and are cut into various shapes: dices and slices. The next step is to thread the materials with skewers.

Also, seasoning powder, cooking oil, tomato paste, and salt were prepared to add flavors to the food.

To set the grills, we had to get some charcoal with a shovel, lit them up and spare every effort to ventilate them with a fan in order to make it burn up.

After that, we stood in front of the grill while the girls kept sending the skewers to us.

I hadn't done a barbeque before and I have no idea how other people do it. My process of barbeque is as follows: brush some oil over the food, put in on the plate of the grill, and then turn them upside-down after a short period, and brush it again with oil when it is dried. Before the food is totally cooked, I put some powders on it for flavoring.

At first we toasted some chicken wings, which turned out to be experimental samples of our poor barbeque skills. The better thing is we gained some valuable experiences and managed to make great progress. Even though standing before the firing charcoals was not a pleasing experience with all the heat and smoke, I was happy because everybody was stuffed with the delicious food we toasted ourselves.

Your way of barbecue is right. The last time friends and I get together for a barbecue was three years ago. You blog reminds me of that memorable day. Heihei.
