how many words do a normal foreigner master ?

l am sorry that l have mislead your guys in one passage l wrote here . in that blog , l said if you mastered 3000 words , you could chat with a foreigner fluently . but just now l baidu about it l fould l was wrong . it has been tested that a normal foreigner have mastered about 10 thousand words . and the most important thing is that each word has the multiple meanings . it is not that easy for you to understand a word l think .
if you recite 30 words then forget 20 words each day . it would cost you 2 years to master the native english .and you must persist every day . so difficult ! isnt it ?

my goal is that l want to regard my english as an advantage in the job hunting as soon as possible . and now l need to be realistic .
perhaps l need to adjust my goal then .

- I think accumulate and master some basic English words is necessary if you want to communicate with foreigners. But foreigners often speak simple English for communication, do not worry about too much. The fact that the more English words you master, the better for you. Just study hard and make progress everyday. I support you always.
