The truth is always behind the curtain. At this age, if you don't want to waste time on meaningless stuff, learn how to make a sensible choice is all that have to do.

You don't have to be too concerned with the value of things you learned. The point is that you care capable of learning something useful if you want to. Your English capability alone is valuable, it belongs to you for your whole lifetime. What else you need?
