Situated in the eastern of Xiangxiang city, and lying on in-between the Lianshui River, Dongtai Mount has been renowned as the provincial scenery resort, an ideal spot for mountain hiking and holiday leisure. Mount Dongtai is 285 meters high above sea level, and her beautiful figure looks like a flying phoenix. Thus people used to call her Phoenix Mount, believed her as a place where one can see the dancing phoenix.

In 1912, Mount Dongtai was entitled as national forest garden for her charming landscape. Here thick forest is weaving, flowing streams are tinkling, and tortuous paths are stretching to the unknown distance, which they are all waiting for your exploration. Moreover, each season here has its own unique beauty: various sweet-smelling flowers are in blossom in spring; soft wind cools the waving lake in summer; while in fall and winter what sparkle you eyes, of course, are the red maple leaves overlaid the mountain, which impress you a scene of exhilaration. Mount Dongtai is a perfect example of the kind of mountain resort that embodies natural scenery and cultural heritage, boasting newly built but parallel primitive and elegant pavilions against ancient couplets, Wen pagoda, Eight Angle temple, Baiyun temple, Sun-raise garret, to name just a few. It is said that the phoenix temple was built by Shihui (a prestigious buddhist in ancient), and Xianlin temple was built by two taoists in Tang Dynasty.

Besides the splendid scenery, Mount Dongtai is also famous for her profound culture deposit. Here great chairman Mao once studied in her neighboring school－Dongshan. Chairman used to climb this mountain with his schoolmates and friends; they gathered here vigorously talking about the national fates and reflecting on its future development. What’s more, here was also the centre place for Chen Geng, Tan Zheng,Huang Gonglue, who were well-known figures in last century, to argue their study and do exercise. Although they all passed away, their footprints in this place enable us to recall their efforts and glories.

In addition, there provides you lodging ， entertainment and children amusing places －the Long Feng Villa, and Entertain Village are ideal boarding places.

Last but not least, the transportation here is very convenient for its mature railway and high-way systems; it connects Xiangtan,Zhuzhou, Loudi, Shaoshan, Changsha, and Hengyang.
