My favorite artwork is the fiction The Shawshank Redemption by Stephen King. I like it because the experiences of the main character impresses me deeply, I learned from him a lot. The story of how he gambled his life just for respect and struggled for innocence constructed the main part of the content, he shows to me that even the most strict prison, with high electric defensive walls and extremely impersonal administration, fails to lock his hope and desire. What really touches me is part of prison break, I could hardly imagine how he took 16 years in digging that hole without been noticed. Besides, I was also impressed by the realistic depiction thoughout the whole story, Stephen King had been famous for his fiction with horrible theme, and this is the only exception, yet the kind of fiction I like. This story was ever shot into a movie and won Oscar Prize. The motivation for King to write this one is still unknown, King himself had been struggle to make a living by writing. He was obsessed in horrible stories since young, once he was criticized as "wasting his talents by writing these "junks"" by his principal. Even till his success in getting a great popularity for his horrible stories, this critique twisted as an endless query in his mind, and the fact that he was long been disregard by the mainstream in literature continuously bothered him. But this time, The Shawshank Redemption proved that he could write some non-junk, or something even much greater than that.
