God's coffee

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.
Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking,some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.
When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up,
leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.
Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink.
What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups.

- Good observation. Yes indeed. People like to use nice looking things to reflect their status, but quite often they go too far and place unwarranted burden and pressure onto themselves. My friends sometimes belittle me for not changing to the most update cellphones. I simply don't want to change to new cellphone because my present one service me nicely, all the things I need is already there and I don't want to start all over with a complicated new cellphone. I would of course change to a new one when there is need to do so. When I go to parties and functions, friend drive themselves there in expensive cars (not sure if it belongs to them) and show off, while I go there by taxi. Why waste money on those cumbersome cars? I better place that money into investments and let it multiply.
I would say the happiest people are those who knows how to be contented. Chasing wealth is going onto a never ending road. Eventually, you would be tired and settle down.

I always ask myself this question:"Why modern people have got so much pressure?" I guess the pressure come to ourselves. We want too much ,and hop into the game that Run Run the Mouse. We gain more in order to spend more.
Instead of wanting too much, why do not we do things according nature rules-- get the minimal things that can make us alive.
Remember: Leading a luxury life, then you will be tired of life.

- I like what you said here. It is true. I gave myself so much pressure in the past several years attempting to do better than others. Although I have achieved some success, I am not sure if it was worth it. The best years of my live was lost in work, friends disconnected and some see me as a money chaser. Whatever. The final word is the best life is a simple peaceful life.

- Cannot agree more on that. We should find something which worth us struggle for our whole life.But, remeber that , once we make some decisions, we never regret for what we have done. Just enjoy every step we take, if we can.
