The incident of Protesters against Mainland shoppers in Hong Kong

Hot 31090 views. 2015-3-11 13:28 |Individual Classification:News

A number of protests  which have been targeting mainland shoppers in Hong Kong's Tuen Mun area makes me think a lot.

These radical deeds of some people are really unacceptable. Their behaviors  not only affected their own interests, but also local residents’ daily life. They also breached public peace and safety, violet the human rights of others.

In addition, their demonstrations is already affecting Hong Kong’s retail sector and smearing the city’s tourism image. It said that retail sales in Hong Kong plunged over 14.5-percent in January, the largest monthly drop since 2003. Sales were also down at boutiques, supermarkets and department stores by over 10-percent during same month.

Some of their approaches may acceptable, but they shouldn’t express them in this radical way. Their deeds may be caused by false reaction to the outside fake information. They may be  ill-used by some politicians. When problem comes , we should find some way to communicate with the Government instead of doing some dangerous way to intrude others’ right. And once decide to  do something, think before leap.

I really feel pity about them, and hope that this incident will over, and people in Hong Kong and mainland live peaceful and happily. After all, we are the members of one family, though we may be conduct different approaches.

So, the news about the attacks on mainland visitors are shown on mainland news. Such news are do damage to Hong Kong and also the mainland. Hong Kong is now part of China and we should have better relations with China than while the British was running Hong Kong. Unfortunately, the relationship with China is much worse than before. The reason for this is because Hong Kong people are worried about losing their freedoms and Hong Kong becoming just 'another city of China' without it's own autonomy. Second is because of the huge number of visitors arriving in HK affecting the daily lives of residents. The cultural difference between simple mainlanders and big city Hongkongers cause friction. In the end, it now seems that HK people are at fault.

HK's economy was falling to pieces in 2003 and China helped HK standup by allowing unlimited visitor to come to HK and spend money. This helped HK stand up again, but the visitors became too much for HK to bear.

The simple fact is that HK does not have any viable industries or sources of income. Tourism is the only main source of income. If you want to eat hot spicy food, you should make sure you can take it, but HK took it and got burned.
The majority of HK people are relying on the visitors to earn a living, so they should not complain. If the tourists stop coming, everybody loses out. Why take a big stone and throw it onto your own feet, Hong Kong people.... Wake up.

yes, i also watch the news, i just feel pitiful that why not both side calm down and put the problem on the table to negotiate and find the solution. Also appraise me is some local people for mainland shopper to fight back to radical residents. So i thing there maybe some political power behind several furious uproar. I think the government should do the statistics and analysis to see if the mainlander shopper really affect the living level of locals and to creates some ways to uproot the causal. Also also the mainlander shopper should obey the local society rules and being friendly sometime we focus on sightseeing but forget to understanding other culture. I fully understand HK a fast growing city under great pressure and with rapind china economic growth which weaken HK advantage business attraction may hardener locals life but we shoud protese legally and squarely.

Yeah, indeed. Ways will be out, it need some patience to research and then get a safe and sound decision.
As a culture, I stand by them. But there is no real freedom, freedom means some regulations and rules.
Anyway, I do hope that this events will end up, people in Hong Kong will leave in a normal life.

I cannot agree more on that. Once protests come, there must be some problem, we should calm down to find solution instead of heating the disapprove.

Actually, it is not so bad. Most of the tourists don't worry about those troublemakers. They all know this is a safe city and they come to buy whatever they want and go home happy. I myself, believe that we need the tourists because they are support our income. So many people are in employment related to the tourists. Thanks for all those tourist who come and visit Hong Kong. Welcome.

I went to Hangzhou last year. It is certainly worth visiting. I have seen the pictures of West Lake since young and finally had the chance to see Hangzhou personally.
