There are gains for all our losses.

There are comforts for all our pain;

But when youth, the dream, departs

It takes something from our bottom of  hearts,

And it never comes back again.

We become stronger, and better,

Under manhood's sterner reign;

Still we feel that something sweet

Even though youth passing away, with flew feet,

And will never come again.

Something beautiful is vanished already,

And we sighed for it in vain;

We behold the youth everywhere,

On the earth, and in the air,

But it never comes again !
