A carpenter's story

Hot 2700 views. 2016-6-6 05:44 |Individual Classification:Mood

I happened read this on a net, and I would like to share it with my friends here:

An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer- Ancontractor of his plans to leave the house building business to live a more leisure life with his wife and enjoy his extended family. He would miss the paycheck each week ,but he wanted to retire. They could get by.

The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes,but over time it was easy to see that his heart was not materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career.

When the carpenter finished his work ,his employer came to inspect the house. Then he handed the front-door key to the carpenter and said,"This is your house. . . my gift to you.

The carpenter was shocked! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house,he would have done it all so differently.

So it is with us . We build our lives, a day at a time,often putting less than our best into the building. Then, with a shock;we realize we have to live in the house we have built. If we could do it over,we would do it much differently.

But, you cannot go back. You are the carpenter,and everyday you hammer a nail,place a board ,or erect a wall,Someone once said,"Life is a do-it-yourself project. "Your attitude and the choices you made today,help build the "house"you will live in tomorrow. Therefore,build wisely!

Meaningful and encouraging. What a simple way to make everyone understand the truth of contribution. Quite often we are building our own tomorrow without even knowing it.

It is a pity that these days. quite a lot of people we come across are selfish and short visioned. They can only see today and can't see their tomorrow.

Nowadays, some companies pay their employees salary with shares certificates of the company. The employees don't get cash money for salary - only get a paper share certificate. Gradually, the staff owns a part of the company they are working for. In other words, they are working for their own and not others. Some people like this idea, some not. This seems to have some similarity to the above case of building your own house.

Your rewards in life are always in direct proportion to your contribution.

The best contribution a person can make to humanity is to improve oneself.

i always like your story, easily reflects the underlying life meaning. Some time keep yourself stay on track is not easy, and paying 100% hardworking is harsh for all the people, so i have to say try to better and enjoy something imperfect.

Most time we are falling into the trap of so-called  running mouse, which we are in a certain circle ,when we are push harder, we are still running in the wheel. Only when we break up the barriar that we can know better. Sadly, too ofen , we don't know what we really do.
Just as you said  the best contribution a person can make to humanity is to improve oneself, and never make any excuse to slow down.

Yeah indeed, easier said than done, no matter how harsh the reality is, we should face them active and bravely. No matter what kind of result is , the course of struggling , sometimes, is really worty trying.

I keep forgetting the 'running wheel mouse'' logic. Thanks for reminding me.
