A vagrant mouse settled its home down on a stupa. Living in stupa was really happy, it could cross over floor to floor freely, and also could enjoy plenty of offerings. Even it had the prerogative others could never image: it could chaw the unbeknown secret books at will, it could stroll around the joss people dare not to envisage, if it felt joyful, it could even leave some egesta on head of the joss.

When men and women burning joss sticks and knocking their heads, the mouse always looked the diverting smoke rising slowly, it sniffled with a rush and sniggered: absurd human being with such lithe knees, so easy to kneel down.

One day, a very hungry wildcat rushed in and caught the mouse at a draught.

“You can not eat me! You should fell down to me! I’m the deputy of the joss!” The noble captive deprecated.

“People fell down to you just because of the position you hold, not because of you!”
