D is addicted to smoking, and I am disgusted at smoking. As chance would have it, we are in the same office. Gneral speaking, D is a smart young fellow. He is a Master in psychology. I admire him much for his eloquence. He could convince people of his sincerity and warmth, no matter what he actually thinks. Another colleague of mine who is openhearthed alwalys says: " How cunning D is! He is just as slippy as a loach(A Chinese saying to describe people who are craftily). We have to be careful to utter a word before him, or we'll fall in his trap and may be made used by him. "
With D in the office, the atmosphere would not be so serious, and we could talk freely. I enjoy the active feeling. In that case, I would like him to stay in the office . But things do not always go like we prefer. I hate smoking. I feel sick and would have a sore throat very soon shortly after the smoke flies into my nose. At this moment I would go out to other offic to do something else. I did the same as usual this morning, and things might go smoothly without D's words before I got out.
"Could you not stand smoking that much, A?" He said with a smile on his face.
" Of course. I'm suffering from pharyngitis." I told him quietly
"Oh. Right. But you shouldn't impose restrictions on my freedom. Smoking is my freedom." He stated his reason.
"There is only one preson in the office smokes, and it is you. Why must we tolerate your so-called freedom? Do you think the country's regulations on prohibiting smoking is nonsensical?"
"Well, you may not stay here." He said with no smile on the face.
I got angry at once:" WHY? Why must I leave here? This place is the office where I work. It is not for you only."
With those words I left the room withot waiting his reaction to me.
I do not know why the whole matter happened or who should be responsible for it. Why did D behaved so untendly? It was not his way.
