Life is full of mysteries and unknowns. At that moment i graduated from college, who guessed i could come to Guangzhou to work. I thought that i was just an ordinary college student, like a cabbage in the street, you could find anywhere, i had no competitive advantage over those undergraduates. As for my major, i didn't have enough confidence in myself to find a job related to English, for i worried that i knew so little about this language and my oral English was so so bad. When it came to my oral defense for graduation, i stated that i did an intership in a health care products company in Wuhan, then one of our teacher Xu Yun, she was a master and her English passed TEM8, but her oral was not excellent as her written English, she said to me: "loly, i think you should go to the coastal city to work, for there are more chances for you and for your major, do not waste what you learnt." I was very moved then and said'' thank you, teacher ''to her. It seemed that i was the only student in the class that she gave these suggestions to.
Though i was encouraged by my teacher, i didn't plan to work in a distant city far away from my hometown. I tried to find jobs related to English in Wuhan, then i worked there about one year, during this period, i changed my jobs four times. Either i fired company or company fired me. Sure i experienced these tough times that i was jobless and wondered that what the meaning of life was and what we lived for and who am i and what can i do and those confusing and annoying questions.
I didn't live a good life in Wuhan and one of my friend Qing was working in Guangzhou and she was eager to want me come to Guangzhou to work and accompany her. I nodded my head and packed my luggage and then came here by train on March 19, 2012. And i think this was my first time to travel by train alone. At that time, it was winter in Wuhan but summer in Guangzhou, i thought. A sense of freshness came to me. Really a new journey for me to start.
My friend's mother was working in a clothes factory. Both my friend and i lived in her mother's staff dormitory. My first task was to find a job at once. I took out my laptop from my luggage, but i found no internet here. This computer was paid using my scholarship, but could not give me more help, then i went to the Internet cafe nearby to deliver my resume. I had interviews everywhere, i went to most districts in Guangzhou, i even went to Foshan and i learnt how to take metro. After one week, they said, even i was later here than them, i went more places than them and knew Guangzhou better than them. In the second week, i chosed a cargo company nearby our dormitory in Haizhu district. It rained at those few days in Guangzhou, but we didn't care about it too much, my friend and i went outside to play. We really had a good time.
I knew it was not good to live with my friend in her mother's collective dormitory all the time. Then in the third week i moved out to rent with another girl from Hunan in a very nice community in Panyu district. After two weeks' working in this cargo company, i together with another two new comers came to Yuexiu district and Baiyun district to do propaganda and collected our foreign customer resources every weekday, but we still got no client, so we three poor people were fired at last.
Then i saw many foreigners doing business in Guangzhou, that's really amazing! My first time to see these black Africans in my life, i was so excited. I'd like to talk with them, i'd like to put what i learnt in school into practice, i want to improve my oral Enlish. Then i decided to work as a salesgirl there, so i could have the chance to speak English. I found jobs there, and many shops wanted salesgirl who can speak English. I was a little worried and fear that i was not equal to this job. But i really wanted to have a try and made up my mind to do my best. Then i got to know a girl named dan, she was from Changde, Hunan, and she was nearly same age with me and she also graduated from college and she worked as a salesgirl at that moment. Then she said she lived alone and i asked whether i could live together with her, for my dwelling place was so so far from here, then she said yes. I was really happy then, my hometown was near to dan's, and we spoke same dialect, totally same. See, how lucky i was. Then i moved out from that community and lived with dan. And i think i have my first meaningful job related to English on April 23, 2012.
Though i get used to this kind of job, but i think it still has many things for me to learn both about business and English. Look, life is not going well all the time, but don't worry, trust it, we will work it out sometime.
I also don't know what life would be like in the future, what will happen in my life, but i do believe that our life will be better and better, now i have more confidence in myself and my life. I know that i can do better, i know that i can......
