Huang Wen went back to his collective dorm and told the good news to his colleagues. All of them were very happy for him. So Huang Wen invited all of them to an restaurant at which they only have dinner during holiday.

  The next day Huang Wen quit and collected all his luggage to go to the international hotel -Smod Hotel. After he dressed the uniform, he looked into a mirror and found he was totally changed. Even the hall manager couldn’t help admiring him.

  All were well. Huang Wen now earned more and wasn’t as painstaking as before, but his quiet life was broken by a girl’s emergence.

  It was a sunny day. A Benz limo came to the Hotel gate. A girl came out of the car caught Huang Wen’s eyes. She was tall and slim, beautiful but melancholy. For the first time of his life, he finally understood what was love. Huang Wen was in a gaffe, only did the girl smile at him politely then he recovered himself to welcome them.

  At night, Huang Wen couldn’t fall asleep. Then Tang Xi found him a little strange and asked him the reason. Though they only knew each other for a short time, they had already become intimate friends.

  “Who is the girl in Benz limo?” asked Huang Wen. Tang Xi burst into laugh and teased Huang Wen, “What’s wrong? You fell in love with that girl?” Huang Wend didn’t want to talk about it anymore and concealed his intention, “I’m just a little curious.”

  Tang Xi said, “she is a famous courtesan with the name Flower. You have to pay 40,000 Yuan to sleep with her for even a singel night. Dude, just forget it. Let your brother Xi introduce you some good girls. You need to find a girlfriend to get married. You’re not a child anymore.” Huang Wen just nodded and just pretended to be asleep for the rest of night.

  He just talked to himself, “so beautiful a girl to be a courtesan, it’s really a pity!” He was in a fantasy, “people have only a life once, grass has only a year, If I can hug her to sleep for a night, I’m willing to die. Someone, you only need a glance to love her.” Then he thought again, “bah, I’m only a doorman and earn 40 Yuan a day, how could I think of this kind of assuming thing?” But he blinked his eyes and though of it again, “life is really so short. Just do the things you like and you’ll die without any regrets, which is much better than you dying with eyes widely open.” Huang Wen just decided to save money for the night with the girl Flower, though he even didn’t know her real name.

  From that day on, Huang Wen cut all expenditure off as much as possible. Even he brushed his teeth, he just allowed himself to squeeze the toothpaste out a size as the same as a bean. He never bought himself new clothes, he never drank and went out to have dinner. All his friends called him Cheapskate and no one knew the real reason.

  After a whole year, Huang Wen went to a ATM to check his savings and found out he had already collected 10,000 Yuan. Huang Wen was happy in his heart and thought, “I only need another three years, maybe shorter, for the sake of salary increase”

  After work, Huang Wen also had a stall to sell cheap shoes and clothes to earn a little. Many people may thought of his bitter life, but Huang Wen felt happy for the sake of hope and motive.

  After having another two Spring Festivals at home, finally Huang Wen collected money more than 40,000 Yuan. His parents never asked him for money and were only worried about his marriage.

  Selecting a Sunday, Huang Wen bought a suit to dress himself up and dialed the number he had dreamed of dialing many times before. Flower’s agent answered the phone, “hello, who’s that?”Huang Wen was really nervous and stuttered, “no..nothing…I..I….” Just before the Flower’s agent wanted to hang up, Huang Wen blundered out, “I want Flower.”

  The agent understood at once and asked again, “may I help you?” Huang Wen was very embarrassed, “I’m a doorman, and I..I want to know Miss Flower.” Hearing the word “doorman”, the agent answered immediately, “Are you kidding me? No, I’m afraid you can’t. To be honest, she won’t receive a nobody as you. Forgive my free-spoken style.” But Huang Wen said, “I’ll pay you 2,000 Yuan for introduction.” There was no need to say anything more, the agent agreed.

  At night, Huang Wen paid 40,000 Yuan and was leaded by the agent to the apartment of Flower. None of his colleagues and friends knew what he was doing. Flower wasn’t at home yet, so Huang Wen waited on the sofa with the agent. 

  At 11’o clock, Flower came in with the support of a friend. Huang Wen and the agent stood up immediately. The agent said, “this is Mr Huang. Flower, you stay with him and have a nice night. He’s been waiting for a long time. I have to go now.” Then the agent and the friend went out of the door together.

  Flower fuddled her cap and powdered her nose. Then she fell on the bed to sleep without even taking her shoes off. Huang Wen looked at Flower and found she facing the bed inside and was fast asleep pressing the quit. Huang Wen thought drunken people feared cold, but didn’t dare to awake her. Suddenly he saw another quilt in the closet, then he covered Flower with the quilt gently. He sat a chair near Flower’s head , just watched her face and held her hand.
