Virtuous Empress---Cian

1005 views. 2011-10-31 17:49 |

Cian was the empress of Emperor Xianfeng, though without offspring, but all offspring by other concubines would treat her as mother, and it’s also her decision on how to educate them, which was also the privilege of empress. Cian was tender and virtuous, if she got married in common family, then the family would surely get a big treasure without doubt.

Cian didn’t love power so much as Cixi, but on the position of empress dowager, she had to study history. She was low-keyed until the incident of An Dehai. An Dehai was the favorite eunuch of Cixi and made the opportunity of purchasing dragon robe for Cixi to plunder common people, which caused public fury. So Cian ordered to execute An Dehai, Cixi was very uphappy. Just thought about a beautiful eunuch accompanying her day and night to give spotless service, suddenly was killed, it would be strange if Cixi wasn’t angry.

When Emperor Tongzhi got married, the empress was appointed by Cian, we could see the powerful of Cian was great. Cian stood in the middle, Cixi had to stand on the right side, when they sacrificed and renovated the mausoleum of ex-emperor. Don’t look down upon the standing position, it means the status and dignity of people.

In 1881, Cian suddenly died with illness, many people guessed it was Cixi poisoned her, but without evidence.

Cian was quiet and with a gentle temper, treated all people around her well, but wasn’t rivalry of Cixi. Being an empress without hegemony wasn’t go on. On trifle you can treat people well, but on great events, you mustn’t be confused, and the empress is the mother of a country, can’t do without awe prestige.

I read the biography of Cian and just write some reviews here. Usually I don’t like to translate other people’s works, which isn’t as free as writing. Chairman Mao said reading without review is the same as non-reading. Because Chairman Mao is my idol, so I learn from him.
