For the whole day, he ate nothing. One the way home, he bought two steamed buns as his supper. There was no bathroom in the basement, he had to use a plastic basin to wash himself in his little room. When he was about to sleep, he suddenly heard there was a guy playing guitar. Atman was so annoyed that he was just looking for someone to beat.

    He knocked at the door of next room and a thin young man opened the door. He smiled, “what can I do for you?” Atman was embarrassed to hit a man with smiling face.

  Finally he said, “can I come in? So bored, have nothing but time to kill.” The young man answered, “great, me too.”

    Atman sat on the floor and said with a forced smile, “living in a basement, do you think us can be yellow trash more?” The young man smiled with eyes just like two crescents, “wah, dude, you’re really straight. I haven’t even introduced myself to you. My name is Four.”

  “What’re you playing guitar for? “said Atman with a poker face. “Nothing, life is really miserable, I just play it for a little comfort,” answered Four awkwardly.

    “Then, I have to say, you really don’t need to play it anymore. I think I know the reason of why you’re living in basement.”

    “Yeah, I admit. But why are you living in basement too?”

    “No offence. I used to think that I like rural life. Now I suddenly understand I’m just evading the real society and using rural life as an excuse to cover recreance.”

    “So that’s why you come to Deep and live in a basement now?”

    “Yeah. I don’t want to escape now. It’s lucky you’re still young. You should try your best to live. Everyone has his own unique life. I’m the one who has to try his best to run toward to one aim after another without stop. I can’t enjoy the scenery on both sides of the road, or else I’ll feel pain, unbearable pain. That’s why I can’t bear the quiet rural life and come to the city Deep again.”

   “You’re amazing. We’ll be bosom friend. All those so-called friends around me don’t know my heart. All they can talk about are money, power and woman, but don’t know how to get them. Just like talking about fish near a pool without thinking of get a fishing net to catch them.” Then Four smashed his guitar on the wall without hesitation.

   Atman admired the determination of Four and thought Four would become a man with greater achievement than him in heart. Four turned on his computer and poured a glass of water for Atman.

  Atman stood up and was ready to leave, “since you’re busy, I guess I’ll just leave you alone.” Four laughed, “no, no, I have nothing to do. I just want to get rid of all blue movie and other useless things out of my computer. They’re really harmful and just like opium. Though you know it’s harmful, you can’t resist the temptation.”
