A New Studying Method

363 views. 2011-11-4 17:48

Since my childhood, I always received the dogma of studying diligently. It seemed diligence was the only way to achieve your studying aim, now I just don’t think so.

The studying aim is just like the end point of a race. We need to run and run until we come to the end point, which is a truth without doubt. In the race of sport, we have no other choice but run by our legs, however, in the race of society, there is no such rule, we can run by our legs, bicycle, car, boat, even jet plane etc.

I read technology book before and didn’t even finish one book for a month, hence I was very frustrated. One day, I got a new idea. All books were written by human, why didn’t I try to write one by myself? So I just choose an important technology book and read its content at first, then I wrote a book with the same content by myself. After I finished that, I compared the original book with mine, found differences and judge which one is better, of course, the original one was better, but there was also strongpoint in my edition.

Finally, I understood the book completely and even found its deficiency easily. No person can be perfect, in the same way, no book can be perfect. If you can be a diligent bunny, why should you be a diligent turtle? In the old Chinese way, it seems turtle is always the hero while bunny is always the loser. Little toad is willing to be a bunny instead of a turtle, even though it loses once, so what? It’s still a bunny and can win a lot of times later.

I just found it useful. Of course you need to understand 50 percent of the book at first. By the way, the book has to be about natural science.

This is really an interesting learning method, but it depends what kind of book you are reading. For example, I am reading a book on  pioneering linguistics theories. How can I write a similar book when I have great difficulty with the one I am reading. So I bet few would have the courage to try it.

i admire your courage, sometimes it might work. however, i guess it should be a field you are familiar with. anyway it is just a method of learning. my understanding is not to write a book when you're not fully prepared. hehe.

Because it’s a book about natural science, I already knew half of them before I read, so I just guessed the other half of it and fount it not bad to learn it this way. Aha.
