Cheat

When I was in elementary school, instant noodle was an extravagant food in my village. One day, my father came back from the town and brought four bags of instant noodles. I was so happy that I felt the day was Spring Festival.

I was ready to open one bag and ate it, but my father told me that the instant noodles were bought by the parents of my classmate Juan and he just took them along to her. I was so disappointed and even had no mood to have supper. Just watching the fancy design of package, I felt so sad.

At night, when my parents went to sleep, I pretended to do my homework. Actually I was looking at the instant noodles, all of them would belong to Juan tomorrow. Though I couldn’t eat any one of them, at least I could see them as much as possible tonight.

Suddenly I picked up one pack of them and smelt it, though the instant noodles were wrapped with plastic bags, I could still smell the aroma. If I didn’t smell it, I would be able to resist the temptation.

Now that I smelt them, I wasn’t content to just see them. I had a good idea, wisdom was always produced under the necessary condition. I used a needle to prick the plastic bag until a very small hole emerged on it. Then I used two needles to seek out a short piece of noodle and put it into my mouth. I thought it was so delicious that my mouth was full of aroma.

Once I had the first time, then the second time, the third time… I was just enjoying the delicacy again and again until I found I had consumed one fourth of it. I complained myself being so greedy, surely my father would found out what happened easily tomorrow.

Then I heard the squeak of rat and had another good idea. I tried to disguise the hole as much as possible so that it seemed to be nibbled by rat. I dropped the pack on the ground and even sought out a few pieces outside near it. Then I slept contently and even dreamt of the sweet instant noodles.

The next morning, my father saw them and only cursed the damned rat. Then he brought  them to Juan’s granny apologetically. Years later, I knew my father just didn’t want to make it open, but I never did that kind of thing again. My father didn’t tell me to be honest and then forgave me like other fathers did. He just pretended to be cheated by me and saved my small face so that I could change it voluntarily.

i guess you were not alone. many people did similar things as a kid. kids are kids. maybe that was the reason why your dad pretended that he didn't know the truth. furthermore, it was a time when food was scarce.

Your experience called to my mind memories of eating chicken with my sisters and brothers. In those days when people barely had enough to eat, childrens dreamed about foods which are just  commonplace to today's kids. Childhood experiences of that kind always fill us with sweet bitterness.

Snowflying (just) flattered me too much. I'm only full of nonsense in my belly, and I don't want to rot them in it. aha. I like to use 'just ' very much, but I have to obey Master heai88.
