The Survival of the Fittest?!

419 views. 2011-11-22 19:59

Today, we had an annual dog-eat-dog competition. Our software department had to wash out three software engineers. The director of our software department took charge of it. The competition included three parts, programming ability, protocol knowledge and product knowledge.

The atmosphere was really depressive, but no one could deny the competition, though it was really cruel. No boss was willing to feed useless guys. The company manufactured network products and located near Huawei, which was a big head manufacturing network products. The company wanted to survive, improving the competitive ability was the only choice.

This weekend, I had to send them off. I told them that even being an exploitee needed to improve ability, or else the boss would not exploit you. They only ignored my words and continued to enjoy their lives. Entering into society, pressure was the first thing you needed to know. Just thought about it, why did a boss give you salary? Because he wanted you to earn more money for him, if you couldn’t, he would fire you without hesitation.

Every year, I was neither the best or the worst. I didn’t want to be fired or be praised. Just thought of the grizzly hair of the best software engineer, I wasn’t willing to try my best to improve my ability to be the best, no worth it. Just thought of the loud noise of keyboard while they playing computer games, I wasn’t willing to waste my life on those things, the game developer was the only beneficiary.

On this point, Taoism was nice. Seeking a balance in life was really the most important thing. Not in a nice mood today. After all, seeing colleagues being fired wasn’t a happy thing. There was also no one who should be blamed. The company also had to survive.

Work hard and enjoy life. If you seek a balance between them, you life will be happy.

English is the working language of IT. You must have the ability to read English technology articles, which is the basic. After all, US is the cradle of IT and English is the mother tongue.

Compared with your pressure, mine is really nothing. At least, our work is stable and we don't have to worry about being fired the next day without a good excuse. I am not afraid of competeting because that's the way modern life is. I only hate being forced to do things that go against my principle. Another thing that impresses me is that you are a follower of Confucianism's doctrine of the mean. Keeping a low profile, you might miss some opportunities and avoid being targeted in the meanwhile.

Yeah, no hard work, no happy life. Only hard work, no happy life.

Everyone has his own dream of life. I know my ability on technology and I’ll never become a first-ranked engineer. I used to hear a half-half song, which was really the exact life I want. I want neither too rich nor too poor, neither too busy nor too easy…

We work hard to improve ourselves, not for our boss. Whether he stays or not, we should try our best during work.

Capability invites laboriousness.
