After three hours of persuasion, Lily was going to stay until the end of the month finally, Maybe I was a push-over, this kind of thing, the general manager even asked me to persuade her to stay for a little while. Nearly all colleagues hated her so much, because she was really strict on both other people and herself, a little miss, she would abuse you like a boss, but I admired her, really a capable woman with fire temper.

I clearly remembered the first day Lily came to the company. Because R&D department were nearly a all-male department, when a new female colleague came, gossip about the new one was full of the big office for sure. A guy said Lily was really pretty, but another guy said she was flat-chested, unfortunately, Lily was passing by and heard it. She came in with a gloomy face and gave the guy a slap in the face. When she turned around and went out of the office, we all stared at each other in surprise.

She was a saleswoman with excellent marketing ability. She alone finished half of the annual sales of our company. She also dared to criticize the shortsightedness of general manager. Because her pursuit of perfection, nearly all colleagues suffered by the order of her client and hated her. I was always a Mr. Nice Guy and got along with her well, though she abused my inability of making software in time thousands of times.

One night, I adjusted software to the request of her client until 10 o’clock. She invited me for dinner and said to me, “I know all guys in the company hated me. There isn’t any personal hatred between them and me. I just did this for the profit of company and my principles.” I thought her words really reasonable and admired her character.

Last week, she was criticized by the general manager for poor relationship with colleagues. Lily was very angry and decided to quit, probably found a good job in a MNC. She quitted suddenly today, of course, the marketing manager and general manager wouldn’t allow her to leave so quickly, but she was stubborn and said she wouldn’t come tomorrow, not caring about the salary of this month. The general manager thought of me and asked me to persuade her, I was in a dilemma. She promised me to stay until the end of the month for the handover. She really saved my face. I was reluctant to use private friendship for the sake of company, but I had no other choice.

Lily was really a powerful woman, tough, stubborn and aspirant. She broke up with her ex-boyfriend, because she thought a man without ambition was really useless, a man without success didn’t deserve love.  Though I though she was extreme, I still admire her, really a very powerful woman, more powerful than most of guys including me.

When I was about to paste my article, she gave me a call she wouldn’t come tomorrow and said she was sorry. Alas, I would go downstairs to have a jogging regardless of this kind of thing, which was originally none of my business.
