Courage was always the first step of being famous. When he was 17 years old, he and his father met a group of pirates cutting a melon, no one dared to encounter them. Sun Jian used his sword and pretended to command soldiers by pointing finger east and west, hence scared all pirates away. He even chased them and beheaded one of them. From then on, Sun Jian became famous for both his wisdom and courage. Nowadays, encountering gangsters, we should learn from Sun Jian.

Sun Jian got promoted by conquering rebels. Sun Jian also persuaded Zhang Wen to kill Dong Zhuo for his three charges, but Zhang Wen hesitated. The tyranny of Dong Zhuo later showed Sun Jian’s far eyesight.

Sun Jian always liked to wear red turban. When he was besieged by Dong Zhuo’s army, he let Zu Mao wear it so that he could escape. Zu Mao was smart to let a burnt pillar wear the red turban and hid himself in the brushwood so that he could escape too. Never be panic, especially on dangerous condition.

Sun Jian was also an able orator. When Yuan Shu refused to send him army provisions, he rode to Yuan Shu in the same night and said, “the reason why I go through fire and water regardless personal safety, Upper part is crusading against conspirators for country, lower part is avenging your personal enmity. There isn’t any enmity between Dong Zhuo and me, but you listened to slanderous talk, even suspect me.” Yuan Shu was uneasy and sent him army provisions at once.

By the way, his sense of principle was really intense. When Dong Zhuo wanted to become his relative by marriage, Sun Jian refused it completely. But Sun Jian had great self-reliance on his personal courage and patrolled alone and finally was killed by the arrows of Huang Zu’s soldiers. Really a pity.
