At noon, I met my uncle Siwa by accident. He was selling Wu Dalang Cake and was too busy to take care of customers, so I was in charge of receiving money for him until he sold out all his cakes.

When I helped him pull his cake cart back to his residence, my aunt hastily bought meat and vegetables to cook. He said he started to sell Wu Dalang cakes a month ago and saw me several times and didn’t call me for the sake of embarrassing me. I rarely had breakfast outside and didn’t saw him even once. Actually, earning money by one’s own hands, which was a thing to be ashamed of.

He learnt Wu Dalang cake from a fellow villager, who had sold Wu Dalang cake for ten years. When he chatted with the guy and found he could earn 100,000 Yuan a year. Then my uncle Siwa quitted his job and learnt to make Wu Dalang cake.

My uncle told me he already earned 10,000 Yuan for net profit. The price of a Wu Dalang cake was 3 Yuan and he could sell nearly 300 Wu Dalang cakes per day. He persuaded me to do this and no need to work for others, but I wasn’t interested. I didn’t like to do business, even though it could make me rich. I liked to have free time to read, originally I thought my reading was just for the sake of money, now I didn’t think so. Money wasn’t all of life. I didn’t like to stand behind Wu Dalang cake cart and sold cakes.

Everyday he had to get up at 3’o clock to knead dough and then sold cakes until 11’o clock. Then he went home to have sleep and got up to knead dough again and sold cakes until 9’o clock. I saw several guys selling Wu Dalang cake and quitted soon. My uncle Siwa used first-ranked oil, floor, meat and all materials. Though he earned less on each cake, he earned more for each day and there were already a group of old customers now.
