Selling Cakes

732 views. 2011-12-17 21:49

When I went out of the gate of company, I met my uncle Siwa and he had to go home to have supper, so I told him I could fry cakes for him. Maybe I was a cake seller in my preexistence, I found I was a cake genius.

It was really funny. So many customers coming to buy my cakes, I felt I was my boss for the first time of my life. I could meet a lot of pretty girls here, I never found there were so many pretty girls in the industrial zone. I didn’t know whether it was because they bought my cakes or I ignored them before. It was a pity I wasn’t the boss, or else I could let them eat free and get their mobile phone numbers so that someday we could go out to play together.

My uncle Siwa was afraid of granny customers, they always thought 3 Yuan was too expensive for a cake, so he refused to pay attention to them. I didn’t care and sold half a cake to them and they thought it wasn’t so expensive and they praised me having a better brain on business.

The most generous customer is boyfriend. Even though they were stingy, they were willing to buy cakes for their girlfriends, even four wasn’t enough if their girlfriends didn’t have to worry about the problem of weight.

A pretty girl stood before me and was hesitated and said it was fried cake. I guessed she was worrying about her white and tender skin. So I persuaded her, “miss, I’m selling Wu Dalang cake, which is very different from ordinary cakes. Have you ever seen the good looks of Pan Jinlian? There are no avon and L’oreal during that period. Do you know why Pan Jinlian was so pretty?” She smiled and was a little curious, “why?” “Because she ate three Wu Dalang cakes per day.” Then she bought two cakes. There were also a girl, probably 18 years old, calling me Prince Cake, I was so flattered and gave her a cake for free, of course, I paid it by myself. The girl was so sweet-mouthed, it was a pity she didn’t sell cakes. There were also builders liked to touch cakes with their dirty hands and didn’t bought them. I didn’t blame them and used a plastic paper to cover them instead.

I had sold 61 cakes out for an hour, twice of my uncle. My uncle had to admit I was better than him and asked me to be his assistant teasingly again. Suddenly I found my pressure was totally gone and was very happy. Maybe I would sell cakes for my uncle every Saturday night. I was happy now, aha.

You don't know how much I like streetside snacks in China. I have tasted a lot of Chinese street snacks. Friends are horrified knowing that I eat snacks randomly from streets citing health reasons. Sometimes vendors are also horrified at this Laowai patronizing them and wondered what I was upto. I really can't resist the variety of homely snacks available. Eat first think later.. haha. I would have certainly bought your WuDaLang Cake if I see you there selling it. One of my favorite is the Rou Jia Mo (肉夹馍)Rou Jia Mo, meaning hot meat sandwich, is a street food widely consumed in China, especially in Shaanxi. An authentic Mo (馍) is made from wheat flour which is made into a batter and stirred repeatedly for an extended period of time and then baked in a clay or mud oven. Depending on the types of spices used to cook the meat and the way the bread is made, the taste of Rou Jia Mo can vary greatly from vendor to vendor and region to region. I have tasted baozhi from every province and Guangzhou is still the best in this. I have tried thousands of different Chinese street snacks. Western food is really a bit boring with it's routine fish, chips, hamburger and all that.

Wow 61 cakes at 3 Rmb each means 180 Rmb in a day part-time. Not too bad. Thinking of quitting my business and start selling WuDaLang cakes next to you, haha. Don't let out trade secrets so easily. Watch out, I am gonna make life hard for you and competition is on the way.

Oh boy, you really seem to be a lively part-time vendor and girls love to crowd around vendors who sell tasty snacks. Yeah, who knows? you might find your dreamgirl among them. Good luck to you buddy.

I’m thinking about it right now. I have the business brain and appearance of Wu Dalang, if only there were a Pan Jinlian helping me sell cakes. What do you think?

I don’t need to worry about your competition. Maybe you can do business better than me, but you don’t have the appearance of Wu Dalang like me, which is the biggest chip of Wu Dalang cake. Even though you find a blonde Pan Jinlian will be helpless. Aha.
