I Read Xiang Yu

655 views. 2012-11-7 21:09

For a long time, I’ve been thinking of writing something about the guy. Xiang Yu had a double pupil in one of his eyes just like the ancient Chinese rulers Shun and Duke Wen of Jin before him. He was thus seen as an extraordinary person, I only think it’s a kind of deformity. Just like Chairman Mao’s mole on chin, a fellow villager of mine is very proud of his mole because it’s also on chin, the same as Chairman Mao. One can’t look down on the power of mind, if you think you do, you really do, or else you can’t do forever.

When he was young, Xiang Yu said, “Books are only useful in helping me remember my name. Mastering swordsmanship allows me to face only one opponent, so it’s not worth learning. I want to learn how to defeat 10,000 enemies.” He despised knowledge and only adore power, hardly realized that power without wisdom was nothing. Even though Xiang was really powerful, I could only call him an atom bomb at most. However, he was ambitious, he could said he wanted to replace Qin Shi Huang, rarely anyone dared to say like that.

Xiang killed Song Ying without any reason and only made subordinate generals scared. Using death to seek life is smart, Xiang got it.

Xiang Yu buried 200,000 surrendered Qin troops alive and I was really speechless. Never kill surrendered enemy, or else you only force your enemy to resist you horribly.

Xiang Yu told Liu Bang that Cao Wushang was a betrayer and let his own spy die so easily without reason. Really stupid. So many people thought it was a pity he didn’t kill Liu Bang at Hong Gate. I have to say it’s no use, even though he killed Liu, he would be destroyed by someone else sooner or later for he was more a beast than a human. He executed former emperor Ziying who had already surrendered, another stupid behavior of killing surrendered enemy. Chairman Mao never did this kind of stupid thing. Xiang also burnt the Epang Palace, what the hell was he thinking about? Wealth is only neutral, why should he destroy it? Wherever he went, he left behind a trail of destruction just like a terminator.

When he got a little achievement, he insisted on returning to his homeland to show off, saying,” To not return home when one has made his fortune is equivalent to walking on the streets at night in glamorous outfits. Who would notice that?” It’s a little like someone’s attitude on seeking wife, which is for the sake of face instead of happiness. I cannot help laughing. That’s it. I’ll say something about the guy again tomorrow.

His lack of wisdom led to his failure, though he was skilled in tactics. Xiang Yu had never been defeated until in Gaixia where he suicided.
