Being able to learn every day is the main difference between human and other animals. If you learn from life, you can only learn from your own life experience. If you learn from reading, you can get over time and space to learn.

     Now that reading is so important, we should learn how to read. There are two factors regard reading, understanding and speed. Without sacrifice of understanding, read as quickly as possible. There are so many books all over the world, if you can’t read quickly, it’s impossible to learn a lot. If you want to understand the world, English is no doubt the first language you have to learn.

     Vocabulary is no longer an issue to me. I can read English books without help. Even though I encounter an unfamiliar word, I can always guess its meaning.

     Originally I read English word by word, then sentence by sentence, later paragraph by paragraph. Now I try to read English scene by scene. Just like ox isn’t ox in Paoding’s eyes. I should learn to treat English as nothing but scene. English is only carrier and I need to see the scene behind it. In a word, I should read English without knowing awareness of reading English.

     In Jin Yong’s novel, Kung Fu master knows to use moves, only the master with peak status has no moves at all. For the same reason, advanced English reader knows styles; only the reader with peak status can ignore styles totally.
