It’s near the end of month and I still got more than two hours for free call with my Gotone service. So I decided to call several friends to see what’s going on.

        At first, I called L, who was my college classmate, to see whether he was available. It was unlucky that he was having supper with his family, so I had to tell him I would call him later.

        I called N instead, he was drinking with customers in Qinghai. Jesus, my friends were all so busy. Because of mobile phone roam and drinking, I had only chatted with him for a minute, a minute exactly.

        I became a little bored and tried to find someone I could have a good chat such as happy old friends reunion. I called P, he went home early and didn’t have anything to do, finally I got someone to chat with.

        P was my ex-colleague. He left my company three years ago and recently he changed his job again. He was a thirty-year-old software engineer. Still single, also had no hobby except playing computer games, he was very bored too. Technology gave him money as well loneliness more and more.

        We had chatted for nearly an hour, mainly talking about old time when we were colleagues. It was 2009, both of us were young, a salesgirl had crush on him, but P aimed for perfect girl or something, probably that’s the reason why he was still single. I didn’t think playing computer games was a thing for thirty-year-old guy, but I didn’t blame him, after all, everybody had his own hobby, just like he couldn’t understand why I could read The Romance of Three Kingdoms and The Dream of Red Mansion again and again. Now he worked in a small company and didn’t have to work overtime, probably it’s the exact time to find his love, after all, time wait for no man. One hour later, we found we didn’t have anything to tell each other, then we said good bye and hung up.

        I tried to call Z, but his cell phone was turned off. The guy was a marketing genius, maybe I should learn something from him for I’d like to be familiar with business now.

        Suddenly, L gave me a message to tell me he was ready to answer my call. So I called him again and then we had a conversation for an hour. He had been working in Z company for more than five years.

        Z company recently had a salary raise between 1000RMB and 2000RMB, L told me I should aware that if I wanted to go there. We also talked about W with pity. W was a good guy, just like something as rough diamond, but he cared for nothing and behaved as a monk out of worldly affairs. This kind of behavior only made him financial status bad. Instead, L was a tough guy and liked competition, that’s why he lived well with beautiful wife and lovely daughter. I used to behave between them, now I found I was moving to L gradually. I liked struggle and competition, I just didn’t think I was inferior to other people as long as they were made of flesh and blood.

        This afternoon, I chatted with S, which was the first time since he left for Beijing. S was graduated from a famous university in north China. He got 291 on Physics, Chemistry and Biology Comprehensive Exam of College Entrance. He was born a technical guy, only he wasn’t so successful in love.

        His first girlfriend left him for another rich guy, S was hurt deeply. The rich guy treated his first girlfriend as nothing. When the girl was hurt by the rich guy, she would come to S for comfort and S was always willing to play the role of Mr. Nice Guy. Later, S fell in love with another girl. The girl had a boyfriend who treated her as nothing. The girl was sad, but didn’t have the courage to break up with her boyfriend, again S played Mr. Nice Guy again. I was glad to hear that he got a girlfriend and was going to get married soon.

        Though I didn’t communicate with my friends regularly, I still wanted to know what happened to them and wished them happy. Maybe sometimes we could gather together to discuss both the past and the future merrily and that’s a really happy thing in life.
