He once played a masculine role in the last year of my college life which satisfied my vanity as a girl to some extent. What is more, he was single with no girlfriend, so I dared to assume he was fond of me in a way. He said nothing. So I took the initiative to seek for the answer, of course, in a subtil way. “I am a friend of Y, so are you, to sum up, it equals that we are friends. I do everything for the sake of friendship”.

I flattered myself.

Then I gave up the idea to be his soul mate and put my concentration to the preparation of my exam. I tried to avoid the contact with him, and pretend nothing had happened if we bumped into each other. I must be a bad actor, for he kept asking me what was wrong. And I was supposed to be a lame liar, either. I told him it was the great pressure on study and he just did not buy it.

 ”Work hard and dream big, and anything you wish is possible. cheer up”. Those are exactly the same words he texted to me one night --in English. I would not deny that  I was surprised at this--no offence, his English sucks-as well as more delightful

I was convinced that I just see through the implied meaning underneath the words--anything you wish is possible

By the way, Y was absent for, like, 3 months. He stayed with his girlfriend in another city.
