Someone once said: Read or travel, because either your body or your soul must be on the road.—the original is in Chinese, and I translated it into English)That is so true. I don't have many chances to travel. So I read. But today I'm going to talk about the place I want to go to most.
It's not the swanky Hollywood, romantic Paris or famous resort Bali. It's a german university—Georg August University of Goettingen. What is so fancinating there?
First, the university is located in Germany — a country where I've always been craving for a visit. Even though the Second World War left this defeated country so many scars, it managed to be prosperous anyway. Germany has a lot illustrious car brands, famous around the world, let's say, Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz. All the richness attributes to german people's persuit of efficency. Moreover, I've read some books about German tradition and its people. They gave me
the impression that Germans are simple and plain, making everything
neat and clean. German media is a powerful tool for its people to supervise the government, as a result, seldom are the officials corrupted. This nation is what I always look up to.
Second, a past notable translator Ji Xianlin were admitted to this university when he was in twenties. He described the 10 years, he spent there in a book in Goettingen, during which the WWⅡ broke out. Actually ,the little town is all famous for its university. And the town and the university is combined as a perfect marriage. The environment there is so harmonious. Especially in Ji's Memoir, he highlighted a feature for the vast lawn under the huge trees on campus, where he and his friends used to read and discuss. What a beautiful scene! If only I could lie down on that lawn and look at the swirling clouds in the clear sky.
Last and least, I love quiet place. =。=Hahn hahn hahn...
That's all.
What's the place you are dreaming to go?
