A Group that We Neglect

1264 views. 2012-11-27 21:53 |

Today, I read an article, talking about a pair of hopeless parents who lost their only-child daughter this year. The whole life of the parents changed after hearing the death from afar. The mother, crying a lot, was afraid of mentioning stuff like child-raising or so when talking with other people. Gradually, she began to keep to herself and lived in a trance state.
The two old people had been immersing themselves in the agony of losing their child until one day, when they found a QQ group full of people who have the same experiences. They let go of the unspeakable pain in the group and began to pursue some legal approach to compensate for their lost. Because under the family planing policy, they can only raise one child and when the mothers turn 50, most of them become infertile. In this respect, when something dreadful happen to their child (the probability is 1/10), the severe emotional blow is beyond redemption.
I hope there will be some compensation made by the government for this considerable group. Tens of thousands of people have to be through this kind of thing just because two decades ago they lend their happiness to the government and now the sacrifice cannot be made in vain.

One of my university teacher's encounter is the same as the parents' experience in your blog. Now they are all retired. She is always in tears at the mention of her lost daughter. I can not even imagine the pain they went through and are still going through.

I remember I have seen a program about people in such a group on TV several years ago.  Actually, once such misfortune happnens to a couple and no matter how many children the heartrending couple have, the pain is still really tremendous and unbearable. At that moment, time is virtually the panacea. Isn't it?

Hope every child can healthily stay with his or her parents forever.

The "one child" policy is a problem, years later, when children are grownup, they alomst know nothing about the family bonds, makes millions of families suffer from the loss of their kids.
